Our Story

Why we ended up building decks

We build and repair decks for homeowners around Roseville, and most of what we know came from standing underneath other people's decks figuring out why they failed. A good deck is mostly invisible work, the framing and the flashing, with the boards on top just being the part you see.

If you're on this page, chances are a board's gone soft underfoot, a post has started to lean, or your deck's just old enough that you're wondering if it's still safe to have twelve people on it at a barbecue. We check the ledger connection, the post bases and the joist spacing before we decide whether to repair or replace, because a deck that looks fine can still be sitting on undersized footings.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed and Insured

Licensed and insured for deck construction work in California. Ask for proof of coverage before any contractor sets foot on your property, including us.

Written Quotes

Every quote lists the lumber grade or composite brand, fastener type, and footing count, so you know what you're paying for. No lump-sum guessing.

Local to Roseville

We work the clay soil and heat swings around Placer and Sacramento counties often enough to size footings and pick stains that actually hold up here.

On-Time Scheduling

You get an actual start date, not a vague window, and we tell you up front how many days of noise and dust to expect.

Quality Materials

Framing lumber is pressure-treated for ground contact where it needs to be, and we'll walk you through composite versus cedar versus redwood before you commit to either.

Clean Job Site

Torn-out decking, old fasteners and sawdust all leave with us at the end of the job, not in a pile by your fence line.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who's doing the work and how we operate.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction and repair has been the focus of the work, not a side offering alongside unrelated remodeling jobs. That focus means more time spent specifically on framing spans, footing sizes and decking materials than a general contractor who builds the occasional deck.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck framing and carpentry is done with a dedicated crew, not subcontracted out to whoever's available that week. Specialty work like electrical for deck lighting may get brought in separately when a job calls for it.
Can I see examples of past deck work?
Photos of completed deck projects, including framing shots before the decking goes on, can be shared on request. Framing photos matter more than finished photos for judging quality, since that's the part that determines whether the deck holds up.
Why hire a deck specialist instead of a general contractor?
A contractor who builds decks regularly knows the specific failure points, ledger flashing, footing depth, joist spacing, that a general remodeler might not catch. That specific experience shows up five years later in whether the deck is still solid or starting to sag.
Where are you based?
Work is based out of the Roseville, CA area, covering Placer County and the surrounding Sacramento region. Jobs further out get quoted with travel time factored into scheduling rather than price.
How far out are you booking deck projects?
Scheduling varies by season, with spring and early summer being the busiest stretch for new deck builds. Smaller repair jobs typically get worked in faster than full builds since they take less time on site.
Do you clean up the job site when you're done?
Old decking, cut-offs, nails and sawdust get hauled away at the end of every job, not left for the homeowner to deal with. The yard gets a final walk-through and sweep before the crew leaves for good.
What happens if something gets damaged during the work?
Liability insurance covers accidental damage to the home or property that happens during deck construction or repair. Any damage gets reported and addressed directly rather than left for the homeowner to discover later.
Will you finish a deck another contractor started or walked away from?
Taking over a half-finished deck happens fairly often, usually after checking what's already built meets code and is structurally sound before continuing. Sometimes that means redoing framing that isn't sized correctly before the rest of the project moves forward.
How can I tell if deck work is being done correctly?
Joist spacing, hardware type, and ledger board flashing are worth asking about directly, since those three things determine most deck failures. A contractor willing to show the framing before it's covered up, and explain the footing depth and hardware being used, is doing the work the right way.
